Rumph Butte Creek Ranch
Powers Land Brokerage represented the agriculture oriented buyers of the Rumph Ranch, a large multigenerational grass filled and timber lined property located in the heart of southeast Montana's cattle country between the Powder and Little Powder Rivers. With nearly 7,000 acres deeded, 3,360+/- acres of BLM, and 640+/- acres of State the ranch represents a quality investment with the scale and production for a respectable operation.
At the head of Butte Creek the ranch catches good moisture producing solid stands of both native grasses and dryland crop. Good year around cover for cow calf operations with water distribution and cross fencing to take advantage of the seasons and the operating plan. Hard grasses provide good gains on both stockers and calves allowing mother cows a convenient and contigous property for herd management.
County Road access touches two points in the ranch with inholdings of valuable BLM and State lands, much of which is held in low overhead grazing lease by owner. Large bull elk and mule deer are resident to the property and compliment the turkey, antelope, and black bear that call this area of Big Sky home.
The old Russell Rumph headquarters includes a quonset, barn, and miscellaneous buildings that remind us of the hard work and character that went into assembling such a fine cattle ranch.
